In 1945, on Christmas Eve, the Sodder family home caught on fire. They had nine children, four escaped, the other five children were never found. The fire chief at the time believed that the fire was hot enough to cremate the bodies and death certificates were issued, however, there were sightings of the children after the fire. Years later, Mrs. Sodder received a picture in the mail of her son who had only been nine at the time of the fire. Nobody knows if the children perished in the flames or if they are still alive somewhere.
