Between February of 1976 and March of 1977, four children between the ages of were abducted and killed in Oakland County. This killer is suspected to have killed more than just four, but the known victims were 12-year-old Mark Stebbins, 12-year-old Jill Robinson, 11-year-old Timothy King, and 10-year-old Kristine Mihelich. All four children were alone when they were abducted and were well fed, groomed, and dressed before they were killed. Jill Robinson and Kristine Mihelich showed no signs of abuse, however, both Timothy King and Mark Stebbins both had injuries that pointed towards sexual abuse. The children were kept alive for some time before they were actually murdered, ranging from three to nineteen days. Robinson was shot to death while the other three victims were smothered. Each child was arranged in public to be found. Two known criminals in the area were polygraphed to determine if they had any affiliation with the children and both men passed. There was a hair found on Kristine Mihelich and years later, mitochondrial DNA testing determined it belonged to a man named James Gunnell or a male on his mother's side of the family. James Gunnell also failed a polygraph test but was never arrested. John Wayne Gacy and Theodore Lamborgine were also suspects in the crime. Nobody was ever officially charged for these crimes.
