On December 10th, 2023, Sofia Lugo was shot to death at her boyfriend's family's home. She was found in a pool of blood with a gunshot to the throat. Her boyfriend, Saul Garcia Macias, told authorities that masked men had come into the home and killed his girlfriend. He woke his mother up to tell her and she preceded to call 911, however, Saul asked her not to and then fled the home. Macias was eventually found and arrested and is facing 2nd degree murder charges.
