Eight women, who were alleged prostitutes, were found dead in in different swamps and canals between 2005-2009. Two appear to have been asphyxiated and two had their throats slashed. All of these women had a history of drug use, petty crime, and criminal records and were living in South Jennings, a poverty-stricken area. All eight women had been working with local law enforcement about the Jennings Drug Trade. Evidence was lost during the investigation making it difficult to track any suspects. One of the detectives on the case bought a truck from an acquaintance of one of the victims and was seen driving it the day she disappeared. There was some suspicion that the police may have been involved in one or more of these murders. To this day there still have been no arrests made in the case.
