In 2022, Ocala Police department responded to the 2200 block of Southwest 2nd Street. After hearing, there had been a shooting. There they found 21-year-old Patrick Stanley Jr. With a gunshot to the leg he was taken to the emergency room and later died from his injuries. Two men were arrested. Cameron Goff and Jaden Burton were selling marijuana to Patrick Stanley. They stated that Stanley tried to steal the marijuana and was shot in his leg as he tried to run away. It was unknown whether Stanley had a gun or not. Goffe arrested and charged with premeditated first-degree murder engaging in a criminal offense with a firearm and possession of over 20 g of marijuana. Burton was arrested and charged with premeditated first-degree murder. Currently both are being held without bond.

This is not the first murder in Ocala over marijuana. I have a friend whose boyfriend was killed at light up Ocala over a $10 bag of weed. It is not worth it and now three young boys have lost their lives. Kamrun, age 23 and Jaden, 20 Will most likely spend the rest of their lives behind bars and 21-year-old. Patrick Stanley Jr will never get to see his family again. Murders like this are senseless. When I was in school there was maybe a fist fight or an argument but teenagers didn't turn to guns. It is a scary world we live in and you never know who is looking to hurt you.
